I saw that at ontd_political, and I really don't know how I feel about it. As you said, it does seem "terrifyingly plausible," and if it is true, then she needs to be called out on it. But at the same time, I sit here and hope that no one runs with the story, because I know it will backfire so bad that McCain will win. (At the same time, I know that if the political parties were reversed and a Democrat had possibly pulled this move, the Republicans would have a freakin' field day and still come out smelling like roses.)
Yeah, I'm not buying it. Alaska is a really small state. If this was a plausible rumor, we'd have caught wind of it way before McCain's mystifying choice.
You couldn't tell I was pregnant until two weeks before I gave birth. There are just lots of factors to giving birth that this piece doesn't take into account. It's different for every woman, and by the time you've had that many kids, you know your body and when and how the whole thing is going to work.
There are other things to peg her on--her stance on abortion, her stance on creationism. But this is just ridiculous and unnecessary.
I swear this plot was on Desperate Housewives last season. I guess if the Democrats get to live out the final season of the West Wing then the Republicans can choose what tv show they want to emulate.
It's pretty disgusting anyone would write that, but somewhat mitigated by the fact that the author seems to know nothing about pregnancy or pregnant women. Dovetails nicely, though, with the attacks from Dems I heard on Palin today (namely that it's her fault her kid has special needs, and that it's totally irresponsible for her to run for VP with a special needs child. By all means, the Dems should keep attacking her and her disabled child, it will make the election that much easier).
The trouble is that IMHO, the weird rumors about Republicans generally turn out to be true, while the weird rumors about Democrats generally don't. Not because our politicians are inherently better behaved -- I think John Edwards proves us out on that, but because Republicans have a highly developed smear machine while most Democrats generally eschew rumormongering as 'below them'.
I actually don't think this is true, based mostly on the fact that it makes more sense for a 44 year old to be giving birth to a child with Downs' than a 16 year old.
But on the other hand, I'd neither be terribly surprised if someone eventually digs up hard evidence. Seems like something the Enquirer is probably all over... about ten hours ago.
It's not going to happen. Biden is more like Josh than like Leo. So real-life!Santos didn't choose a real-life!Leo, therefore the storyline can't follow through.
I'm pretty stunned that my flist is so shocked by it. It seems to be basically par for the course this election cycle. (Maybe I should be posting more 'McCain is fucked up in the head' stories.)
Yeah, between the "PTSD-ridden secret killer" stories about McCain and the "Islamo-fascist secret terr'ist" stories about Obama, this isn't surprising. It's just gross and annoying.
