Things That Are Annoying:

1. I don't think I'm ever going to be employed ever again.

2. In the endless 'will the new Star Trek movie be any good' debate, people who shit on DS9 and then immediately start wanking about how the new Battlestar Galactica is the best reboot ever. They're practically the same fucking show! *headdesk*

ETA: 3. For the record, the answer about the Star Trek movie is 'no', because Zachary Quinto really, really sucks.

EVER?! Evereverever until you are 80 or more???? That's a heck of a long time.

Okay, maybe for like a year. The job market here in Vegas sucks so so so hard.

I'm starting to feel the same way. :(

Not entirely sure how I feel about the new Star Trek movie. I want to have hope for it, but I'm afraid it's going to suck epically.

You've been unemployed a really long time now. I wish I had money to move to a better job market.

Since June, and it's driving me batty. It's not like I'm not actively looking, either. This is so frustrating.

I wish I did too. I'd move far away from here. I think that's my secret desire lately.

[identity profile] skywaterblue.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Blah. Are you getting unemployment? Mine doesn't kick in until January and I think I only get two months of it.

I was, but then I made the mistake of going back to school, and they stopped it. Sigh. Bastards.

Five years from now you'll be rolling in money, looking back on this period of your life, and feeling nostalgiac for parts of it. That's the way memory works. You're smart and competent and you'll get far better jobs than you've ever had before.

Can't console you about Star Trek, sorry -- haven't seen any of Quinto's work. It may really suck, for all I know.

[identity profile] skywaterblue.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly. I hope you're correct. I already nostalgically glow the Chicago years, and they were often marked by being poor and starving and long tedious battles with Financial Aid officers.

It looks pretty terrible. There's a trailer online if you're interested; can't remember if you were a big Trek fan or not.

1. Yes you will. Just apply to everything.

2. Word.

3. More Word.

I want to move the fuck out of Vegas.

[identity profile] skywaterblue.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
I have no money. I need to find a job first.

[identity profile] libra-iruka.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
I feel your pain on the job front, and I've only been looking for 3 weeks. A few more days and I'll be on a corner in a short skirt. If things don't improve soon, I'll be moving to my aunt's place in Orland Park.

Vegas sucks. :(

1. I would recommend finding a sugar mama/daddy. It's worked wonders for me. ;)

2. Yes. To everything. Oh DS9, could I love you anymore? The answer is no. I mean, BSG gets the chance to be more intense since they don't have to follow the Trek format but holy mackeral. So many things are lifted from DS9. Gah.

3. Yes. I cannot comprehend him and why people love him.

[identity profile] skywaterblue.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
1. If only I could find such a thing.

2. Remember when Gaeta's leg got chopped off? And he sang sea shanties? Poor Nog wants his life back. (Sometimes it feels like RDM really wrote new Battlestar to redo the stuff he did on DS9, but this time WITH ACCLAIM.)

3. He's really the worst thing about the show.

[identity profile] ahkna.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
1. Apparently it's not that hard. I've gotten two offers lately to be a housegirl.

2. YES. In fact I do remember that. Oh Nog. You were so annoying and THEN YOU FUCKING GREW ON ME LIKE FUNGUS.

3. Gah, he is. I can't even watch Heroes anymore because...well, my reasons are numerous. But many of them can be boiled down to the fact that it's somehow all about Peter, Claire and Sylar - all of whom I don't find very interesting. Now, if they made a show about Mama Petrelli without her spawn or illegitimate grandspawn tagging along, I would be all over that. I fear he's going to ruin Star Trek too. Actually, I fear for the entire movie but I'll probably pay to see it.

Which is more than I can say for Nemesis.

[identity profile] skywaterblue.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
I paid for Nemesis. *sad*

The thing about Heroes was that it was never a very good show. Even in the first season it was nothing but warmed up pap of better stories told in comics.

[identity profile] ahkna.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, these are trufax about Heroes. I was never attached to the show so I just lost interest. I only even acknowledge its presence because my brother is obsessed. But he doesn't read comics though I pester him to. He's too busy reading the hardcore fantasy novels, so I guess he's just a different kind of geek.

My main complaint about the show is that if you're going to have a show called HEROES, your characters had better actually BE heroes. Instead of what the show should be called: Many, Many People Scheming For No Real Purpose and With Little Narrative Structure.

[identity profile] skywaterblue.livejournal.com 2008-11-20 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
I want your Sulu icon. Except I want it with Shirtless!Ninja!Sulu.

This is another good point about the show.

Yeah, I've never been interested in Heroes for that reason. When I first heard about the idea of superheroes in the real world, I thought "Oh. Kind of like Watchmen, Miracleman, Squadron Supreme, New Universe, Powers, Aztec the Ultimate Man, Zenith, Animal Man, Damage Control, Casual Heroes, More Than Human, The Authority, Astro City, Power and Glory, Meteor Man, the entire fucking core ouvre of Stan Lee, Ruins..."

DUNE BUGGIES!!???!!?!!?!

Also, I really felt that in keeping with the information-themed naming scheme, Data and Lore's retarded younger brother should have been named "Folk Wisdom" or something.
