I haven't seen this yet, but I did manage to get to Stratford last year to see it live. I do agree with you about the lack of chemistry between Hamlet and Ophelia; I remember feeling very 'meh' about them as a couple. I guess it's difficult given that Ophelia doesn't really have a lot of stage time, to show the relationship between them, but then that should make it even more imperative to consider the chemistry when casting, and not just to go for "the best actress". But I'm not a casting director, so what do I know?
On stage, both Tennant and Stewart were utterly mesmerising - whenever one of them was in a scene, it was a real effort to tear your eyes away and look at someone else!
