Apparently the trip to see Barack Obama has turned into a family affair, because my dad and brother are coming as well.

Also great: my brother, my 13 year old brother, picked up Hamlet at the library along with his usual stack of comics (DC this time, because, according to him: 'so I don't have to care about the continuity'.) He's already into act one, scene three because he also read the foreword and introduction.

Thanks so much, David Tennant! You rock. I've never wanted to send him a fan letter, except now I think I owe him a card or something. (Hallmark should make a card for this: 'thanks for making my thirteen year old brother want to read Shakespeare'.)

He's on act two now. I had to explain most of the Ophelia scene to him (obvs on learning the news I dug out my own copy) but otherwise he seems constantly surprised that it is so good. It has a ghost and it's epic and stuff.

It's pretty lolarious, since we obviously have very similar taste, that he's constantly miffed to 'try things Tori likes' and then finds out that shocker, he likes it too.

That is so cool. You're a good sib. :)

Has he seen any of the movie adaptations? Would he be interested in that? Throwing him into the four-hour Branagh might be a bit much, but it does have special effects and the awesome sword fight at the end.

I was thinking the Ethan Hawke one, actually.
