First is Relevant to my Interests!

First shot of the Eleventh Doctor's Costume!

It looks pretty good! Not overwhelmingly unique, but it has a lot of room to grow on you with the characterization. I'm excited now. (I think what Karen-as-Amy is wearing is more telling.)

Sean Bean picks up Game of Thrones along with Peter Dinklage.

Casting: officially too good.

Finally: have you heard the rumor that Tennant is going to be playing Bilbo Baggins?

THAT makes a LOT MORE SENSE than the rumor that the big sci-fi movie he's supposed to be in is the Doctor Who flick. I could never figure out who thought a Doctor Who movie was a good idea, since no one in America watches it. Unfortunately, Peter Jackson said he wasn't going to announce anything big at San Diego Comic-Con, which kind of puts my whole conspiracy theory to bed.

I really hope there's no Who movie, though. It just sounds like a bad, bad idea.

It's bad that I read this again over here and still want to leave comment squee over SB.

Much as I <3 Tennant. He is totally wrong for Bilbo.

I agree, but I'd love to see him try.

Not sure what I think of 11's costume yet. Will have to see it in action.

But... Sean Bean as Ned? OH MY! I absolutely adore A Song of Ice and Fire. He's too perfect for the role!

(I didn't even know they were planning a movie- so this is a double hit of obsessive glee!)

Dude, Peter Dinklage in the role he was born to play. C'mon.

If they carry on casting like this, it's going to be AMAZING.

A Doctor Who movie wouldn't work over here because Americnas in general don't understand Doctor Who, in that:

1) He doesn't resolve every problem by shooting someone in the face.

2) His politics are almost harder to nail down than the rules regarding meddling with history.

3) His British-ness is what makes the character work, and that'll rub the wrong way with the bulk of American movie goers who have been trained by Alan Rickman to hate and fear all English persons who are not Harry Potter or a chef. We tried 'Americanizing' him once, and it didn't work. (Fortunately, that film was destroyed in the Time War.)

Lastly, DW movies have a rich tradition of being terrible and stupid; and on top of that, the show pretty much spits out a sci-fi block buster every fortnight, what the hell can you do story-wise which warrants a film?

I agree 100%, even if I think the Fox Doctor Who movie is terribly underrated. (The only bad thing about it is the Master.)
