I'm too tired to breathe, but I got up and went to the yard sale of Clean House today, where I got a classic Pyrex cassarole dish with serving dish, a brand new glass salad bowl with stainless steel tongs, a triplicate strand of freshwater pearls and a vintage copy of Countess Mapie de Toulouse-Lautrec's "La Cuisine de France", which I've heard lots about. And my mom got some stuff too -- three little crystal dishes (only one has a tone, so I think the other two are faux molded glass) and some unwrapped cooking knives and a turkey platter. I spent 25 bucks for all that, which was pretty excellent, I think.

I bought the casserole dish set in hopes there would be lots of French baked dishes, but not so much. Also, the book proves that even the French were not immune to the 50s.

So what up LJ? I hear the episode of BSG I'm downloading sucks ass. Obviously I haven't seen it yet, but I'm not that surprised because the whole season has been on the downward spiral.

Oh, and I see that [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily is strikethrough and I'm told we're all to be marching out to battle with Peter Davis? Bummer, but the ways of the internet vox populi are strange and cruel and it must be done. Sadly, we are done now, Peter Davis, and that sucks because [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily was your biggest booster and I never would have bought issues of MI-13 without that comm telling me it existed.

ETA: Dead tired, [livejournal.com profile] selenak is right, I mean "X-Factor". Oh Layla Miller. :(

Isn't M-13 Paul Cornell, though, not Peter David? Also, frankly, the later doesn't need scans_daily too boost his sales. He's one of the top bestselling media tie-in authors and has been since his Star Trek days. Also, scans_daily while useful to check out what new comic books are there was so incredibly vicious in the comments that I'm not very sorry to see it gone.

You're making me sad by saying that. The discourse was vicious but so much less so than any regular big comics website, because scans_daily was run by fandom. Go check out how many times someone can fagbash on say, Comic Book Resources's Message Board before they get the banhammer.

You're right about my mixup. I'm very tired still.

I'm not saying they deserve to be shut down. (And entirely agree that vicious discourse is not a reason, or that there are forums where it's far worse.) But I was being honest about why I, personally, do not feel aggrieved about it happening. If it were up to me to decide? Of course they wouldn't be shut down. But the reason why I do not feel sad, and don't feel like boycotting (not that I actually buy any current David comics or books which I could now boycott, come to think of that - I think the last PD novel I bought was the last volume of the Centauri trilogy, back in the early 90s...), is because of the comments I've read there when I made the mistake of actually reading the comments instead of just looking at the main posts.

To reiterate: no, they don't deserve being shut down. No, I don't feel sorry that they are. I wish I could feel sorry, but I can't, for the above named reason. Which is an entirely personal reaction and not to be taken as a criteria for anyone else.

Sorry. My tiredness must have seemed snappy. Your reaction is your own, even if I feel sad that it is your reaction. :*

A Clean House yard sale? Cool! I want to go to one someday. :D

And if it's the last 10 episodes of BSG that you were downloading, it's all just one big suckfest, especially the finale. Since it's June now I'm going go go out on a limb and guess that you've seen all ten by now. :P

Yeah. I liked the finale though.

I was disappointed by the finale. Angry, even. Science fiction writing FAIL, I thought.

But whatever.
