The casting spoilers for this film have made it leap from 'I love me some X-Men' to 'most anticipated franchise film of 2013'.

X-Men: First Class was fucking great. We went to the midnight screening and about fifteen minutes into the film, my brother and I looked at each other and said 'holy shit, we're going to see it again tomorrow'.

Also: X3, why did it take them a decade to make this movie? *G*

The good and the bad. )

In conclusion: I can't wait for the fic.

It is really funny that among the other comic book related movies previewed in front of this, one serious film: a Matthew Vaughn piece where Helen Mirren is an ex-Mossad agent who was tracking down Nazis. HOOK LINE AND SINKER.

Matthew Vaughn is already talking up X-Men: Second Class, as early reviews are quite phenomenal for this film. My expectations for this have gone up immensely over production.

I hope it is as good as promised, and does great at the box office, for I would deeply love to see this film:

Spoilers for... the film, and uh, X-Men comics and the 60s, I guess. )

I agree with your thoughts 100% sir.

First Showing on Twitter says that January Jones is your new Emma Frost.

My feelings are thoroughly mixed.

1. I have been really sad the last few days. The mother of a friend of mine died, and while not at all unexpected, she was a good person and a good mother and I don't do grief that well.

2. I really need to work on comics, but nothing is coming - I don't know if I'm ready to say anything about the Birthright trip. Lately I want to make comics about Las Vegas. It's stupid. Other than fixing up this workspace, I have borderline wasted my summer.

3. I've been really nostalgic for 2005, partly because of the death, partly for some reasons I don't want to discuss, and partly because I'm missing a friend who I don't speak to anymore. In any event, lots of hours spent wasted reading Josh/Donna fanfics in bed - I seem to be favoring the post-series Santos stories but there aren't that many of them so I've now worked my way to other crazy shit.

4. If anyone still remembers that I was even working on this: The Grandfather Clause is what I ended up titling the Mutant Fic. I'm posting the chapters that are finished. I might even, you know, really complete it someday that way.

5. Told you. Really bizarrely nostalgic for 2005.

I made a self portrait today. It's pretty good, I don't hate it.

Speaking of mr. spike jonze, have you guys read his blog? 100% guaranteed to make you feel 20% cooler. Impress your friends by knowing cool shit six months before it's in the Times. (Not that this is hard.)

Today I made this, signed up for biology (still no idea how to pay for it idk idk will deal with it when we get there) and talked to a counselor. She was not helpful.

Then I watched a bunch of X-Men cartoons. Still haven't finished "Wolverine and the X-Men", but it's kind of a crazy show. At least once an episode they try and stress to the audience that Wolvie just IS SO RESPONSIBLE that he can lead the X-Men and every time I get a little thrown by all that.

I kind of admire their sheer desire to cram as much X-Men lore into one season as possible, though. It has sentinels! It has ninja Logan-san! It has Emma and Nightcrawler and Polaris and Genosha and House of M and Days of Future Past and the High Evolutionary! Remember him? What's even left for a second season?

I hope we get to see some Shi'ar and space pirates and the Brood and Lockheed for sure.

Emma Frost GIP!

I have a retarded busy week coming up: three job interviews, a bunch of art shows, my classes including a big exam, and some other crazy adventures. I had to get a planner!

Have a sketch page I did in astronomy class:
