Gov. Blago arrested by the Feds for conspiring to sell Obama's Senate Seat.

Among other things that are fucked up! Wow, is this really how Blago is gonna go down? That's intense shit right there.

Damn. Also, fandom has corrupted me so much that I'm sitting here wondering if Rahm Emanuel is foaming at the mouth yet.

Why does every one of our governors have to get arrested for shit?

At least this will hopefully mean that things will get accomplished down in Springfield. Gooooooooooo Pat Quinn!

Seriously. I haven't supported Blago in any of the elections I've been able to vote in (go Rich Whitney! Go Greens!), and just now, I took the Blago magnets I had gotten from the DuPage County Dems office in Lombard, back in 2006 when I was helping Duckworth against Roskam, and chucked them in the trash.

And I'm the type of guy who keeps reusing stuff, no matter its obsolescence.

I really wish Whitney had won that election.

I guess I'm just bummed out it looks like there won't be a seat for Duckworth. (Or is she gonna run for Rahm's seat?)

Well, if Durbin has his way and gets an emergency election, there's still a good chance for her, methinks. Screw the remainder of whomever Blago thinks would make a good choice, Emil, Madigan, all that noise. I'm tired of these same people and the same names getting elected to office. I want someone appointed that will actually reflect the voice of the people and be like Fitzgerald and Duckworth, tough go-getters who damn the political machine and go out and kick some ass.

And I for one have to say hell no for the Rahm seat. She had enough backlash for living in the Eighth District, a few miles outside the Sixth, and running for Congress there. It'd be hell trying to convince the residents of the Fifth to let her represent them living a dozen miles away.

Gah. I just want to be the next Fitzgerald and kick these slimebuckets' asses.

It's probably a sign that I've been watching the Tudors excessively this past weekend, and that I just woke up, that reading this article I kept thinking "Why would you trade a political seat for mere money? Shouldn't he be trying to trade that seat for favors and more power to cement his base and crush his enemies?"

Okay, I'm going to go and trade MY senate seat for coffee and bacon.

The going theory (prior to this morning) was that he was gonna trade the seat to Madigan, the attorney general of Illinois, who is nipping at his heel for his job.

Unfortunately, I think we underestimated his stupidity by several orders of magnitude.
