powerof3 and fashionbeast tried to distract me from it and more or less succeeded, but ever since I found out Tiffany's only gives store credit (and that the money for the damn necklace came from my dad pawning off some clock he didn't want), the existence of the fuckin' robin's blue bag has been stressing me out.

I've literally scoured the store for hours to look for anything I'd actually wear and can't find a damn thing I could afford with the store credit. It's really depressing, especially since I thought I could use the money for stuff I actually NEED, like a hair cut, or to repierce my ears and get plugs in, or a new iPod to store more media...

... but as it stands, it looks like Monte and Susan are going to get a wedding gift vastly out of step from what I would have gotten other wise.

(Dammit, with 165 bucks, I could actually go to the wedding. Grr.)

Most depressing gift ever. I may have cried.

What if you sold the necklace on eBay or some other jewelry site? You should be able to get a decent price since it's brand new.

It's funny complaining about a gift from Tiffany's. Never in my life has anyone given me THAT nice a piece of jewelry. But when you could actually use the cash, I can definitely see where a necklace you'll never wear is a bad idea.

That it's that nice is part of the stress for me. It's like raising the stakes so much I can't just toss it into a closet.

Aww. I'm sorry. I got not one but TWO pieces of jewelry I'll likely never wear when I was home earlier this month. My parents have started selling Avon, and I think they think if they give enough Avon crap for gifts, people will actually start buying from them. And that was it, except for a $6 used video game from my sister (that I actually do really want) that, if I'm lucky, will be mailed to me before my next trip home in June.

Any time the best part of your day is a compliment on potato salad at the work potluck, it's an indicator that it just might be the worst Christmas ever. And I second the eBay suggestion.
