Economy, what economy?

skywaterblueAnyway. I tried yesterday and today to find a job, and came up completely blank. It was pretty demoralizing and reminded me of why I stopped looking over Christmas. I also tried to file for unemployment like five times, and the phone line has been non stop busy. (And the web machine is down.)
Anyway. Bummed out, but one of the classes I want to take came open (political philosophy, why yes, I would like to read and write papers on Mill and Rousseau) and I emailed the professor for the other one, which is screenwriting. I hope I get in, and then I further hope it isn't one of those cases where I beg to get in and then hate the professor and loathe myself for a whole three months.
My sister's birthday party is tonight. I guess I should do some laundry and take a shower.
Because I was so depressed about the job search last night, I finished the last four episodes of Party Animals. I was saddened to find out that even though the writing was completely tight like a telanovela, and it mostly wraps up, they leave some of the storylines lax in one of those 'tune in next season' deals.
I, for one, look forward to our new woobie Sorkin!Doctor. At least, I hope he cuts his hair back, because he's got a charming 'young and naive Sam Seaborne/Josh Lyman' thing going on in this show. If Sorkin characters were young enough to be realistically naive, they would be Matt's character on Party Animals.
One of the weird things I liked about it was that Danny had that dumb pining relationship with Kirstie, who was coolly less than interested (but also willing to string him along for her benefit). It reminded me of just about every relationship I've ever had in my life and it's a vibe I haven't seen very often on television. In that respect, maybe the lack of any ending to the story is appropriate, since the relationship never actually leaves stasis - it remains more or less, completely in Danny's brain.
The weird relationship between Scott and Ashika completely steals the series for me, though. It's been a long time since I rooted for a couple that bad -- as ambiguous as the ending of the show was, I like that the end hints they're going to patch things up.
