The New Doctor:

... is Matt Smith, and we've already made all the jokes, thanks.
A slice of surreality:
fashionbeast and I were slumming down the Strip on the bus, when we caught the announcement of the announcement of the new Doctor going on the newsticker at Bally's. This is the ONE MOMENT OF LIFE I wish I had been faster with the camera... but bus, newsticker, alas, it is a shonda.
My reactions in order: who? Not Paterson Joseph? Oh, that guy from the BBC adaptations of the Sally Lockheart books. But he's rubbish! Oh, he's in some political drama? Well, I shall download it and see. At least he's already made out with Billie Piper. Besides, Steven Moffat's smart...
I am currently at this phase: I hope they give him a decent haircut and costume. I can't imagine this being as big of a disaster as fandom thinks it will be, even as I acknowledge my deep suspicions that they flinched at the idea of casting too far from what they perceive to be the Tennant mold.
I'm gonna blow through Party Animals tomorrow between filing for unemployment and getting my Millennium Scholarship in order. I officially suspect that watching eight episodes of drama about politics, in service of Doctor Who fandom, will be no task in this household.

I reserve judgment but as we won't be seeing him for another 18 months, I'm going to just forget about him and enjoy my last year of Tennant.
