This is a Very Modern Muse by 'Irene Adler' on Bleeding Cool.

I'm really disappointed in this. First, because it should be obvious that the last thing comics needs is more of an excuse to sexualize ladies in the industry. Second, because: this isn't even a GOOD sex worker's blog - it sounds like someone who kinda sorta wants to imagine being a sex worker except like, she'll be classy like a courtesan and it'll be just like being Billie Piper on Secret Diaries!

Aren't corsets so naughty? Tee hee.

*sighs*

Oh dear. Does she actually shag people though? She seems to be very in love with herself.

I don't know? It's kind of like a sex work blog except maybe she doesn't take money - which I think makes it more exhibitionist, if true, not less. Like at least if she IS a real sex worker it counts as crummy advertisement.

It sounds like she sees herself as some sort of superfan whose Amazing Sexuality will make men (specifically men) accept her input on artistic matters and that makes her A Muse.

Yeah, she's a groupie who has a thesaurus. It is sucky.

Reading that makes me want to punch her in the face, so if that's what she was going for, well done. (She clearly doesn't care what women think anyway.)

From "Irene Adler":

The muse is the most passionate woman you’ll ever meet, and she wants to fuck your brain. Some girls like chiseled abs, others get wet for big fat wallets, but the muse lusts after talent. A witty turn of phrase, the right artistic style, a story so raw and urgent that she needs the climax with every inch of her body - these are a few of her favorite things. The greatest compliment you could give her is to let her be your inspiration. If she’s in a good mood, she might even let you think it’s your idea.

The more common term is "groupie," and her ultimate objective is to latch on to a talented successful man and live off his success. Of course, her "love" lasts only as long as does the man's success -- when he hits a dry spell, she will detach herself and find someone else's blood to suck.

It is because of the existence of people like these that the successful often decide they can't trust anyone and become hermits.

Yeah, she definitely confuses "muse" and "groupie". A muse does not set out to become one, nor is there necessarily a sexual relationship between the muse and the artist.

Oh, and one more thing ...

... her use of the nom de plume Irene Adler is an insult to Irene Adler -- both to the Arthur Conan Doyle and the Carole Nelson Douglas versions of the character. Both were classy, intelligent women who wished to leech off no one's success -- it was obvious in "A Scandal in Bohemia" that Irene mostly wanted to be left alone and had no desire to blackmail the Prince, which is why the heroes wind up feeling sympathy and respect for her.
